Description & Rules: |
| This
list is for personal, family-friendly websites
only. If you would like to show off your
website (family members, children, memorials, pets,
friends, genealogy information about your family,
photo galleries, your interests, hobbies, misc. family
info, etc.) then this is the list to join. It's
a great way to increase visibility to your site and
find other sites of similar interest.
TYPES OF ACCEPTED WEBSITES:
Only personal & family-friendly
websites will be accepted as members of this list.
Please do not submit the following types of
websites as they will not be approved:
#1)
Websites that represent an organization or that
only sell products &/or services.
However, if your site falls into one or more
of these categories AND is of a personal nature,
it may be accepted.
#2) Other topsite lists, unless your website
is more than just a topsite list (i.e. you run
a personal website that includes personal, family-related
information in addition to a topsite list).
#3) Websites that are not primarily English-language
sites.
#4) Websites that do not have YOUR vote
link to the Family Topsites visible.
#5) Forums - I DO accept most forums as
long as I do not have to become a member
to view the majority of your content.
I also do not want to join your forum
for the sole purpose of viewing YOUR voting
link to the Family Topsites. The link
to the Family Topsites should be visible to
anyone surfing the internet, not just your members.
After all, if you become a member of the Family
Topsites, anyone surfing my website can view
the banner and link to your website - so it's
only fair. |
If you have submitted your website
to become a member of this topsite list and have not
heard from us within 3 days, your website was rejected
for one or more of the above reasons.
PLEASE NOTE: We
reserve the right to delete any topsite list member(s)
without notice who, after having been initially approved,
meet(s) any/all of the following criteria:
#1)
Members who add links to other websites containing
inappropriate material, particularly links to
websites with nudity and/or other pornographic
material. These sights are not
eligible to rejoin.
#2) Members who do not maintain a link
to the Family Topsites. If we can no longer
find the reciprocal link to the Family Topsites,
your website will be deleted. **
#3) Members who do not receive any "Votes
In" for a 1 month period. Those sites
with 0 votes at the end of each month will be
deleted. **
#4) Members whose website(s) is/are no
longer available. If the link to your
website is a "dead" link for several
consecutive days, it will be deleted. **
#5) Members whose website(s) is/are
a forum that requires membership to view the
majority of the forum contents. These
sites were initially approved by me because
membership was NOT required to view the majority
of the forum content and was subsequently changed
by the forum webmaster.
**Websites
being deleted for these reasons are eligible
to rejoin the Family Topsites at any time. |

| HOW
TO ADD YOUR WEBSITE: |

Follow
the instructions during the sign up process and copy
the provided html code onto your site. You may
use our vote banner and/or a text hyperlink, whichever
your prefer. The vote banner will look like this:
Your site will be approved by us first prior
to appearing on the list (we normally approve sites
within 3 days after you sign up). You will receive
an email confirmation once your site has been approved.
Please place your vote banner and/or link in a location
on your website where we can find it. If you
want to insure we find it, just use the "Contact
Us" link in the main menu and send us the URL
of where it's located. |
3. |
You
can log into your account at any time to change your
information (such as your site description, email
address, banner location, etc.). Just click
on the "Edit Your Site" link. |

You
are welcome to post this topsite list on vote exchange
boards &/or you may solicit votes through personal
vote exchanges. |

You must
receive at least one (1) Vote
In during any given month to remain active on
this list. At the time of the topsite reset (the
first day of each month), any site(s) with zero (0)
Votes In will be deleted. |
| How
This Topsite Works: |
Ranking:
The list is ranked by your Votes
In (the first column). The 2nd column (Visits
Out) shows the number of visits to your site
from this list. The list ranks according the actual
counts you receive throughout each month and does not
use averages or decimals when ranking websites.
Voting:
Members are allowed one (1) Vote
In and one (1) Visit Out
per IP address per day. The topsite list logs
all incoming and outgoing IP addresses throughout the
day and then "dumps" them after 12:00 am CST.
Because of this it is not necessary to wait 24
hours between votes. You can cast another vote
anytime after 12:00 am CST and it will count for the
next day.
Determining Winners:
The Votes In
& Visits Out
columns will be reset to zero (0) at the first of each
month. This makes it easier for new list members
to climb to the top of the list. The 3 websites
with the highest number of Votes
In at the end of each month will receive a personalized
award graphic. Please use the "Award Pickup"
link in the main menu to request your award as they
are no longer made automatically.
Your Website Stats:
If you click on the "STATS"
link below your ranking you can view detailed statistics
about your website collected over the last 4 months
(or however long you have been a member if it's less
than 4 months). Others can also rate and/or review
your website if they wish. Ratings and reviews
are limited to one (1) per IP address per day.
You will also notice 2 different types of counts:
UNIQUE and TOTAL counts. Anywhere you see the
word UNIQUE, it just means per IP address per day.
Where you see the word TOTAL, it means the total number
of hits in/out, even if it's the same IP address over
and over within a 24 hour period. |

The maximum
banner size permitted for the topsite list is 468 pixels
wide by 80 pixels high (your banner can be any dimensions
at or within these limits). If you would like
to create a banner for your website and need some help,

assistance. You can conduct a search on any of
the major search engines and find many more sites.
